What is Counselling?

Counselling aims to help you understand yourself and your relationships and develop strategies to cope or to achieve change. Counselling is sometimes called ‘therapy’.

Counselling sessions can assist you to:

  • Identify problem issues - and their origins - and put in place mechanisms to work through issues.
  • Develop better communication and negotiation skills.
  • Learn to manage conflict.
  • Clarify what each partner wants from the relationship and how they can get it.
  • Developing strategies of coping that are may be more helpful and work better in the long-run.
  • Learn how to remain connected, or to re-establish connection, and to develop and maintain friendship.
