“I have been working now as a couple therapist for more than a decade. In many cases where couples have developed serious marital (relationship) problems, it really started with the birth of their first child. Without realising it, they failed to negotiate the changes necessary to make their relationship survive and grow. Couples with twins face an even bigger challenge – particularly if they are the first born in the family. Twins amplify the experience that most parents face and often have the affect of bringing forward issues that other parents face further on. That’s why it’s really important for them to consider their relationship in the choices they makes about how to cope.”
